Birght flash of light

A few days ago I woke up in the middle of the night - the usual thing if you have a siamese cat jumping around and meowing every 5 seconds. Trying to go back to sleep I was staring at the window and I saw this white flash of light. It wasn't the usual type of flash I see often, this one looked and felt different and I would think it was a shooting star if it wasn't just a couple of feet away from my window.
Any ideas of what it might be?
